On Status

SMV, status, what is it? What is it not?

Status is independence. Both body and mind. Being able to forge one’s own path, to say no to the crowds, not being pushed off course by the expanse of opinions, and allowing the intelligent opinions to take pause. It is something that some have, and some don’t, and I can be cultivated by anyone with the capacity and patience to make their own observations. It is the complete package of all traits: to be cool and mysterious as water, light and fierce as fire, to stand as still as stone, and to move gently and comprimisingly as the wind through silk.

When we talk of status, the images of advertising campaigns come to mind. Men rest in suits sitting in nice cars, gold watches, women in red dresses, images of wealth and attainment. Handsome models displaying this wealth in deserts, ocean sides, old buildings, new ones. But compared to real status these images are inconsequential. Even vile. I feel sorry for those that follow accordingly.

In the Vedic tradition, what’s more familiarly known as Hinduism, a tradition that I do not follow but pay attention to, there’s the idea of reincarnation. It is the concept that the non-physical essence of a being continues on after death, and arrives in a new body. I’ve read that one starts as a single cell organism and moves up through the ranks, eventually finding themselves as a human being. Each step one grows in wisdom. For our current world of 8 billion people we find ourselves in an odd situation. Before there were so many souls in human bodies a great die off in large bodied mammals occurred. Images are conjured, swaths of dead buffalo, rotting wolves on the American frontier. The cause was modernization. Modernization brought more humans into existence than ever before leaving many animal populations smaller than ever before. The reason the herd mentality is so common in the modern world is because people that were supposed to be herd animals are now human beings. A mistake in the design. This circumstance will not last long, but for now it is the case. When advertising companies create images of status, they cater to those with the herd mentality.

There’s a conspiracy that a race of lizard people run the world and do evil things. I believe this to be true, although poorly articulated. It is true that some serpents now reside in the bodies of humans. A place that they do not belong, but a place that they find themselves nonetheless, and operate out of. It is not only true of serpents, but of animals of all kinds. The evidence that our spirits evolved from animal life can be seen in the easily understood comparisons we make to animal hierarchies. We can understand the point of view of the conspiracy theorists. It’s a theory after all, but we can also acknowledge that those are the beliefs of terrified mice. We need not bother ourselves with their beliefs as serious from our own point of view.

The image of the lone wolf is a popular one in human conscience, but uncommon in the natural world. It is extremely difficult to survive as a wolf without a pack. However the reason this image is sanctified is because it is an image of man who is moved up through the ranks of reincarnation. It is the image of the sigma male; that popular archetype in PUA. Who doesn’t love to be called a lone wolf; that fierce survivor solo with his wits? Many jokes are made about the pretenders, comments that cast doubt. The archetype however is a real one that some live up to.

Status in the animal kingdom is entirely dependent upon which animal one belongs to. The hierarchy of lions is different than meerkats. And in the world full of lions, meerkats and men, many ideas of status are put forth. There is a great amount of confusion. Those who have pursued PUA are of a distinct category. When you push aside the pretenders, you find strong conscience men that understand complexity, and that get along despite of it. It is for this group of men that we can discuss the meaning of status.

So then, from where the status derive in the evolved human? It comes from understanding, from the wisdom of many lives, that one does not remember, but has in fact lived.

The situation creates many stumbling stones even for the evolved person. I remember my own rampant sexism as a youngster, which I now believe came from my observations of the stupid animal behavior that exist in women as well as men. Of course my focus was pointed toward women. My conclusions accounted for what I could see. There’s nothing wrong with sexism just as there’s nothing wrong with tripping over a stone. It happens. Afterword one recovers his balance. That faithful line of dialogue from the dark knight, “Why do we fall Bruce?.. So we can learn to pick ourselves up.”

Perhaps that is status right there; the ability to pick oneself up. To continue on after a harsh blowout, a near miss, and the confusion of success gone wrong. To lay in bed staring at the ceiling, to cry from the pain, and to get dressed and hit the streets once more. It gets easier with time. And eventually it disappears altogether, the insecurities washed away from a thousand hunts. Peaceful understanding.

It is for these reasons too, that the dropout rate in the game is so high. There are many in the game that are not ready for it. Many that must go back to the state of grazing sheep in the pastures, rats running through sewers.

Status, taken in that more common sense as, “ones place in the hierarchy,” is entirely based in circumstance in the human world as much as it is the animal. Take the bar, and the street, for example. These two places are different habitats in which one needs different behaviors to navigate. The bar is loud place people come with friends. There are bartenders, bouncers, various authorities. There are lots of horny guys trying to get laid, lots of girls dressed sexually putting up a lot of resistance due to the huge amount of men knocking upon their door. Depending on the personality of the women, they will react to the men differently. The streets is a personal place you find people going about their day not expecting to be hit on. The hard shields are not present there, unless a woman is very insecure. Women walk in smaller groups, and sometimes alone. Men too. On the street they are not trying to get laid. They’re walking with their backpacks going from A to B.

One can burden himself with trying to dissect these hierarchies or he can break from it all together using a similar but different strategy called empathy. Instead of trying to figure out the whole world, he can take a smaller bite and figure out who he is and the person across from him. This approach is a slow one that takes years and it’s the only approach I’ve seen to be effective. I remember in my second year of day game when I approach a girl wearing headphones. She told me she was listening to a podcast. In a somewhat dimwitted reply, I told her I like podcasts, especially the Joe Rogan Experience. Whatever, it was the first approach of the day. She was a bit dimwitted herself, physically a 6. “Oh, I could never listen to Joe Rogan. He gave a platform to Alex Jones and he’s very hateful man.” She told me. “Yeah, he certainly upsets a lot of people,” I said. She continued talking about her politics. I nodded understanding and then told her, “look, it was nice to meet you. I hope you have a good rest of your day.” Later that afternoon I would SDL my first catwalk model.

There I was, a young man, not a lot of money or friends. A guy that struggles to get quick service from bar tenders. Under six feet, unable to exchange numbers with a 6 but effortlessly picking up a 9, to the bar, to the pier, back to mine. Wherever the next life takes me I hope a carry a bit of what daygame has given.

So for the aspiring PUA he must not concern himself with knowing all. He must learn his environment and examine the cracks in his own soul. That’s how the light gets in. He who knows himself. He who is master of himself. That is status. That is the man that gets it. That gets laid.

Fuck the watches. Fuck the cars. Fuck the crew of beta gamers. Live your own life. Pursue your own destiny. That is the road of the true PUA.
